Fair Trade is an alternative approach to business and trade practices in which the partner, particularly in developing countries, is not exploited. It is a form of sustainable development as it values and encourages people to acquire skills and provides them income opportunities based on those abilities.

The fair trade guiding principals are:

  • Healthy, safe and proper work conditions.
  • Fair compensation for products and labour.
  • Equality between men and women in terms of treatment, salary and opportunities.
  • No child exploitation.
  • Sustainable environmental practices.
  • Prefinancement of suppliers based on orders.
  • Long term investment relationships.

Coronilla follows all of these principals and is presently an active member of Fair Trade.
